It appears you either have Cascading Style Sheets disabled or you are using a particularly old browser. To experience the COWS Web site at its best, please enable CSS or upgrade your browser.
We do not automatically collect personal information about visitors to our website. When you request a subscription to our electronic newsletter, COWS Notes, on our newsletter sign-up page, we only require that you provide us with your e-mail address. Your address is then added to an electronic mailing list, administered by COWS, which is used exclusively for distribution of COWS Notes (and, occasionally, other information we believe will benefit our subscribers). The addresses on our mailing list are never sold, leased, or shared in any other way with any third party.
You may voluntarily choose to provide other information when you subscribe to COWS Notes (your name, organization, etc.). This information helps us to understand our subscriber base, in terms of broad interest areas (e.g., workforce development, journalism, education) and geographic location (e.g., state, or country if outside the United States). We provide this information, in aggregate form only, to foundations that support our work. We never use this information to personally identify you, your organization, or your location.
It is easy to have your e-mail address removed from our mailing list. Simply send us an e-mail, indicating the e-mail address you wish to have removed. Instructions on how to unsubscribe also appear at the end of each edition of COWS Notes.
We do collect aggregate data on this Web site - group data with no personal identifiers. We use this aggregate data to help us understand how our site is being used, to improve usability, and to enhance its quality. Please note that this is aggregate data only; individual visitors are never identified.
Like most standard web servers, our web server automatically logs information about website visits, including the user's Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), domain, URLs visited, and the date/time of the visit. The web logs allow us to generate aggregate data about our website traffic, which help us understand how our site is being used and how we can make it more useful for our visitors. We make no attempt to track individual users, nor do we link the web log information to any other database in order to identify individual users.
The COWS website does not use "cookies" (pieces of data that store information about your personal web usage on your computer). We also do not use "web bugs" (tiny graphics, similar to cookies, that are used to track individuals' web usage).
The COWS site contains links to other sites maintained by third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of these external sites. While you are visiting these sites, we encourage you to review their privacy policies. Our privacy policy applies only to information collected by the COWS website.
If we make changes in our privacy policy, we will post these changes to this webpage. We do not expect to make any changes in the near future.
If you have any concerns about the COWS site and your privacy, please contact us.
